The Collections and Legal Coordinator is responsible for performing all duties necessary to facilitate the collection of patient account balances from account guarantors. These duties may include but are not limited to account follow up with reviews delinquent accounts for collection turnover, makes pre-collection phone calls to patients to warn of collections and extend 1 final offer to pay and reports payments made directly in-house to collection agency to maintain accurate financial records within both entities.
⦁ Respond to patient disputes in a timely manner
⦁ Review and verify validity of bankruptcy notices received
⦁ Responds to subpoenas for billing and medical records in a timely manner
⦁ Responds to attorney reduction requests in a timely manner.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
⦁ A minimum of 2 years in a fast paced, medical billing setting.
⦁ Extensive knowledge of patient collection procedures, laws, and regulations.
⦁ Ability to analyze explanation of benefits.
⦁ Understanding obligations of fulfilling legal requests.
⦁ Ability to deescalate tense situations quickly.
⦁ Must be able to prioritize, and possess excellent time management stills.
⦁ Strong written and communication skills.
Supervisory Responsibility: This is a non-supervisory role.
Work Environment: office building working 8 am – 4:30 pm
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: non-Exempt (full-time)
